Study Lesson
Read slowly, check the biblical text and take time to reflect.
Strength in the Lord
The command begins with dependence: be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Paul’s armour image is not an invitation to fear; it is a call to stand faithfully in resources God provides.
The armour
- Truth: a life anchored in what is true.
- Righteousness: integrity shaped by God’s saving work and holy calling.
- Peace: readiness formed by the good news of peace.
- Faith: active trust when accusation, fear or temptation strike.
- Salvation: confidence in God’s saving purpose.
- The Word of God: Scripture received and used faithfully.
Prayer surrounds everything
Paul moves immediately from armour to persistent prayer for all the saints and for his own bold proclamation. Spiritual readiness is communal and prayerful, not merely individual.
